It’s the most famous opening sentence in literature, though translated in many ways. “One morning, as Gregor Samsa was waking from anxious dreams, he discovered that in his bed he had been changed into a monstrous, verminous insect.”
It’s that anxiety, the uneasy sense of foreboding, that Arthur Pita’s marvellous retelling of Kafka’s The Metamorphosis catches pitch perfect right from the start.
